Select New York Initiative
Select New York is a platform in-the-making for the promotion of New York State to international companies making a foray into the U.S. market. The Initiative is designed to foster international collaboration and the establishment of mutually beneficial partnerships for the attraction of job-creating business investment to New York State.
As part of the Initiative CIBA initiated and supported the launch of a soft landing program for the Southern Tier (Soft Landing New York) in 2022. The Program was funded by the Economic Development Administration, hosted at the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator in Binghamton, and managed by the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships at Binghamton University and the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University (www.softlandingnewyork.com).
Soft Landing New york (SLNY) connected the vast expertise of Binghamton University, a premier public university that is part of the State University of New York, and Cornell University, the largest and most educationally diverse university in the Ivy League, with foreign businesses looking to establish a presence in the United States. The Program provided a range of assistance aimed at making it easier for onboarding companies to set up operations and integrate successfully into the regional markets.
In addition to online workshop series on the U.S. Business and Market Environment, customized mentorship assistance and vast networking support, the Program organized in-person market exploration bootcamps in New York City and Upstate New York (Binghamton, Ithaca, Geneva).

CIBA strives to grow the Select New York Initiative as a sustainable regional innovation on the basis of a broad public-private partnership of key community, state, and federal stakeholders with a common interest to facilitate the attraction of foreign business investment to New York State.
